Galeria Blue Moon welcomes Mexican animator, director, and painter Jorge R. Gutiérrez to San Miguel de Allende for his first solo exhibition in the city. "Muertitos" features more than 30 new paintings created specifically for the exhibition, bringing together Gutiérrez's distinctive visual language of lucha libre, lotería, calaveras, and Mesoamerican imagery in saturated color and bold line work. Best known for directing and co-writing The Book of Life, co-creating El Tigre, and creating Netflix's Emmy Award-winning Maya and the Three, Gutiérrez brings to his painting the same exuberant visual imagination that has defined his work on screen. The exhibition runs at Galeria Blue Moon from October 22 through November 8, 2026. A reception with the artist takes place on October 30, 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
